I think, at least Verizon, is still getting things working between the 2 in some areas, especially if there are capacity issues which Verizon is way behind the curve on in many none urban areas. ![]() I agree with you, I bought a 5G phone expecting that since there is 5G here that's what I'd mostly see with maybe an occasional drop to LTE. ![]() There are even some pockets that drop to LTE. Even though there's supposedly c-band there I never see n77. Sometimes I see 4G+ which I assume is mixing the 4G and 5G ? (is that behind the scenes tech stuff about aggregation?)īut if I go to a near by city all I mostly see is 5G NSA band n66. I live in a rural area that has 5G but mostly all I see is 4G/LTE. It's mentioned that all 5G (even c-band), with the exception of mmwave I believe, uses the LTE core. ![]() I honestly don't understand all the technical things involved. What was mentioned when I asked the same question was it's not up to the phone it's up to what the network determines somehow. ATT may be different in how it's all handled. So, what's the point of having a 5G phone when the phone will use LTE if LTE is good enough? Shouldn't it try to use the latest technology first then step down if that isn't available?Īctually just going by what I tried to understand up in the Verizon forum and some personal experience. ![]()
